Amarillo, Texas July 27, 2016 - NCW Insurance, a division of HeritageRM, invites clients and community business leaders to attend a free Active Shooter Safety Seminar on Thursday, September 1 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at the Amarillo College Downtown Campus, located at 1314 S. Polk St. Amarillo, Texas 79101.
There are a number of new safety issues that businesses and community leaders should consider. While Amarillo and the surrounding communities seem safe, preparedness is essential. To help our clients and our community continually improve safety standards and outcomes, NCW provides ongoing safety seminars, risk mitigation and a connection to resources. This Active Shooter Seminar will feature best practices, acknowledged research and expert experience. We are excited to feature speaker Corporal Danny Perez with the Amarillo Police Department. Topics covered will include:
- Strategies developed by the ALERRT Center at Texas State University designed on the Avoid, Deny, and Defend program to survive an active shooter event
- History and Prevalence of Active Shooter Events
- Civilian Response Options
- Medical Issues
“An active shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area. To best prepare your staff for an active shooter situation, business owners need to create an emergency action plan (EAP) and conduct training exercises. Together, the EAP and training exercises will prepare your staff to effectively respond and help minimize loss of life,” says Risk Advisor, Kimberly Dryden. “Because these types of issues are part of a good risk management program, we look at the complete risk of a community, our business partners and our families. It is our desire to share our resources and start the conversation within the Texas Panhandle to prevent, respond and mitigate safety and security issues.”
